Mr. Gross has over 10 years of extensive education technology
experience, including with Sun Microsystems and Apple Computer.
As the K12 Market Development Manager at Sun Microsystems'
Global Education and Research Division, he was charged with
acquiring new partners supporting the implementation of Sun's
vision for the worldwide education markets and proposal
operations. Mr. Gross also served as a government relations liaison for Sun and participated in a number of activities surrounding education technology policy:
• Honorary Executive to the Congressional Web Based Education Commission
• Contributing author to the National Education Technology Plan
• Chairperson to the Washington, D.C. Mayor's Task force on Education Technology
• Author of a portal implementation technology guide for 1997 Summit of the
Americas.
With Apple Computer, Mr. Gross served as the K12 Education Manager for in the
Southeast. Major responsibilities encompassed managing the K12 education practice,
including strategic account planning, marketing, proposal operations, sales development,
and public relations. Additionally, as a result of his extensive background, he was selected
to manage all aspects associated with the implementation and deployment for Apple’s
largest 1-1 e-Learning national reference account in a Northern Virginia K12 school
district.
Other education technology management experiences include:
• Director of Marketing & Business Development with TRW's Education Technology
Division
• Director of Business Development for a major software provider of management
systems for the special need school populations
• Board of Director with an emerging XML based learning content management
system (LCMS) company basing their approach upon technology developed for the
US Department of Defense (NSA).
Mr. Gross also held a variety of positions both domestically and
internationally in the public sector, including Legislative Aide to
Senator Howard Metzenbaum on education policy, Senior Policy
Advisor on international affairs to Congressman Erick Fingerhut,
and Political Risk consultant to the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development.
Mr. Gross holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from
the Ohio State University, a Masters of Business Administration
from the Katz School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, and a Masters of Public Policy and International Affairs from the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Gross is married to Leslie Sacks Gross and has two children ages 6 and 2.
